Publishing a book is no easy feat. Authors start off with an idea, and sometimes it could be tough for that idea to transfer into a publication.
For Brigette Callahan and Kristin Warham, their dream of creating a book about their love of Buffalo came true.
The book, "Buffalo From A to Z, Come Take a Tour With Me," is a bright, colorful, 54-page guide around the City of Buffalo.

There's only a few days left in 2018, but looking back ... what a year it has been for Niagara-Wheatfield athletics. 2018 saw a majority of Falcons sports teams accomplish winning records, some of which included Niagara Frontier League and Section VI championships. Some teams and individuals were even fortunate enough to reach the state finals.

2018 was an interesting year. Residents in the Town of Wheatfield, Town of Niagara and City of North Tonawanda all saw their municipality change in some type of way, but now that 2018 is soon turning into 2019, it's time to start fresh.

Saturday night, the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons boys hockey team got revenge on its rival Williamsville North, 3-1. The victory comes just eight days after the Spartans defeated the Falcons, 5-3, at the Northtown Center.

Last year, Jordan Fox, a graduate of North Tonawanda High School, went above and beyond to set up a fundraiser and hockey game in the memory of Joey Brochey. Fox recently announced the game will make a return for year two from 3-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Hockey Outlet, 3385 Niagara Falls Blvd.

Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, USA, and Mercado Development have announced plans to develop a "chef inspired" food hall at the Fashion Outlets. The food hall, named Mercado Place, is expected to open in the spring of 2019.

On the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 8, Niagara County Community College Public Safety received a radio transmission regarding a male down in one of the academic buildings on campus. Upon responding to the call, campus security officers Linda Haner-Mele and Ryan Newton discovered multiple people already on scene assisting with the unresponsive individual.

On Saturday, the City of North Tonawanda, as well as the Downtown Merchants and Oliver Street Merchants played host to the 2018 Lumber City Walk. The walk included over 40 family-friendly events throughout the day around Webster and Oliver streets, which helped kick the holiday season off in North Tonawanda.

On Saturday, the Town of Wheatfield held its annual Christmas tree lighting and kids party at the town's Community Center. The festivities helped bring in the 2018 version of the holiday season, as Santa Claus arrived via a St. Johnsburg Fire Co. truck and greeted children upon arrival.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Lady Falcons have had success all season. From unbeaten in the regular season to Niagara Frontier League champions to Section VI champions - nothing could go wrong for the team.
On Sunday, at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, the girls looked to add to their season resume: New York state champions. With all good things, though, they come to an end.
The Lady Falcons' historic season struck midnight Sunday, as the team was defeated 3-2 by Wantagh.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons girls volleyball team etched another first into its season Saturday. The Niagara Frontier League and Section VI Class A champions will play for their first state title Sunday, after finishing second place in pool play of the New York State Class A girls volleyball championships.

The fall athletics season has been one to remember for the Niagara-Wheatfield girls volleyball team. The team won its first Section VI title and followed it with a win in the Far West Regional to clinch the first state tournament appearance in program history.
On Friday morning, the team was scheduled to hit the road for states in Glens Falls. Prior to them loading up the bus and taking off, though, the team was given an outstanding send off from their fellow classmates.

The folks of Wheatfield got a little taste of what Empire State Wrestling is all about last year, when Vince Mease - known as Vince Valor in the ring - came back home to wrestle in his hometown. Local wrestling fans will be excited to hear that ESW will make its return to the Town of Wheatfield and pack an even greater punch.
