In Niagara Falls, there are few images more iconic to locals than the giant cow that sits perched atop of De Dee's Dairy. Around this time of year, the beloved bovine is usually overlooking scores of sticky-faced patrons and pineapple-sized ice cream cones at the picnic table below. Everything about this year's Best Fish Fry contest was different - except the winner. For the third year in a row, Apple Granny Restaurant battered, I mean bested, the competition. The Village of Lewiston restaurant once again garnered the most votes (and the most voters) to take the title.

Two Lewiston businesses originally slated to become part of the renovated Fourth and Center streets complex are moving. The owners of Brewed and Bottled Craft Beer Shop and Sgt. Peppers Hot Sauces said the corner's concept just wasn't the right fit for them. As such, they're headed to 442-444 Center, a property developed by attorney and Town of Lewiston Councilman Alfonso Marra Bax.

The VIP Food Service students from the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center spread some holiday cheer to troops in Afghanistan. For the second year, students in Lisa Cook's class helped out a local Lewiston organization that tries to make the season brighter for men and women who cannot be home with their families.

The award for Best Cheese went to Jaco's Pizzeria. Sammy's Pizzeria took Best Specialty for its "7-1-6" pizza, which features chicken fingers and steak. The People's Choice award went to Favorites Pizzeria in Lewiston for its honey garlic chicken pizza.
