The New York State Public Service Commission on Thursday established three-year rate plans for electric and gas customers of New York State Electric & Gas Corp. (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. (RG&E) by adopting the terms of a joint proposal that is much more favorable to customers than the companies' original requests, reducing the initial rate year requests by almost $231 million.

The Westminster Economic Development Initiative (WEDI) received a $250,000 grant from Bank of America to advance its $11.5 million capital campaign to build a new West Side Bazaar at 1432 Niagara St., Buffalo. A press release noted, "This funding will help remove barriers for underserved entrepreneurs, including refugees and immigrants, to start family-sustaining small businesses."

Tourism spending reaches $969 million in Niagara County for 2022

Earlier this month, the New York state-commissioned Tourism Economics research study for 2022 was released, detailing the economic impact of tourism across the state. The study revealed that the total traveler spend in Niagara County in 2022 reached $969 million, which is an increase of 16.5% relative to 2021.
