Jacobs secures $500,000 for infrastructure improvements in Hamburg business district

New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs announced he has secured $500,000 in capital assistance monies in the current state budget to support a major overhaul of the Village of Hamburg's municipal parking lot behind Main and Buffalo streets. The lot, which serves the village's central business district, will be reengineered with a more efficient design and a new drainage system to go along with new paving.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced New York will utilize the $127.7 million received from the 2016 Volkswagen settlement to dramatically increase the number of electric vehicles and other clean vehicles in the state. Covered vehicles include new buses, trucks, locomotives, ferries, tugboats and cargo-handling equipment, as well as the availability of electric vehicle charging equipment statewide.

Empire State Development on Tuesday announced the recipients of funding for Oath's Community Benefit Fund for Lockport and Oath's Yahoo Community Fund for Niagara County - Empire State Development. For the 2018 funding cycle, $510,000 was awarded to 20 projects. Each year from 2015-21, Oath has committed to granting $500,000 to community organizations in Lockport and the surrounding areas.

In total, McDonald's and franchisees are investing $6 billion to modernize most U.S. restaurants by 2020, including most restaurants in the Empire State.

USA Niagara Development Corp. (USAN) on Monday issued a request for expressions of interest (RFEI) to determine interest from qualified parties to redevelop a key parcel in the Buffalo Avenue Heritage District of downtown Niagara Falls. USAN gained control of the vacant parcel, located at 305 Buffalo Ave., through a strategic land acquisition earlier this year, made possible through Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Buffalo Billion phase II.
