Trudeau is visiting the U.S. Capitol for North American Leaders meetings with President Joe Biden and Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Hochul announces acceptance of Canadian vaccination credentials for business entry in NYS

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced digital COVID-19 vaccination credentials issued from Canadian provinces and territories that adhere to SMART Health Cards specifications will immediately be accepted through the state's Excelsior Pass scanner application. Following the reopening of the U.S.-Canadian border, this means fully vaccinated Canadians can use their compatible vaccination credentials for business entry in New York.

DiNapoli: Unemployment taxes on employers poised to increase to repay $9B owed to federal government

The historic surge in unemployment claims at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly depleted the New York State Unemployment Insurance (UI) Trust Fund, resulting in the state borrowing from the federal government to pay claims. State UI tax rates have already risen to the highest level permissible under law in 2021. Unless the state or federal government takes significant action, federal UI tax rates on employers will also increase in 2022 and beyond, according to a report issued by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

69% of leisure travelers to reduce trips amid rising COVID-19 cases

U.S. leisure travelers plan to significantly pare back travel plans amid rising COVID-19 cases, with 69% planning to take fewer trips, 55% planning to postpone existing travel plans, and 42% likely to cancel existing plans without rescheduling, according to a new national survey conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). Nearly three in four (72%) are likely to only travel to places within driving distance.

BBB scam alert: Watch out for fraudulent QR codes
