NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc., reminds contractors and homeowners to have underground utilities marked before digging - this is essential to protect themselves and others from injury and to prevent damage to underground utility lines. The New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) recently announced employer contribution rates for the state fiscal year 2021-22 will increase from 14.6% to 16.2% of payroll for the Employees' Retirement System (ERS) and from 24.4% to 28.3% of payroll for the Police and Fire Retirement System (PFRS).

Community Action Organization of Western New York President and CEO L. Nathan Hare has announced plans to retire after serving the antipoverty agency for 18 years. Hare will continue in his post until CAO's board, led by the Hon. Craig D. Hannah, completes a national search for his successor. The board has retained Catapult Executive Consulting of Buffalo to assist with the search.
Catholic Health and its foundations notified of nationwide data breach

In mid-July, Catholic Health and its foundations were notified by a third-party software vendor, Blackbaud Inc., of a cyber security breach that impacted the health system and other nonprofit organizations locally and throughout the country. The breach, which was part of a potential donor data base, included the names, medical record numbers, and dates of service for patients who received care in Catholic Health from 2016 through May of this year.

A new national survey commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) conducted by Morning Consult shows a number of improvements to health and sanitation protocol at U.S. hotels would have considerable impact on guests' comfort levels staying there, with the top three including face coverings for employees (87% a lot/some impact) and guests (85%), suspending daily housekeeping of rooms (86%), and utilizing technology to reduce direct contact (85%).

Now a hurricane, Laura is headed to the U.S. Gulf Coast with landfall expected late Wednesday into Thursday. The National Weather Service is predicting a potential Category 3 storm. Thousands of residents have been ordered to evacuate coastal Louisiana and Texas. As in past years, the storm has a high potential to negatively affect coastal refineries, which impacts crude and gasoline inventory levels in the region and beyond.
