Artpark & Company held its annual meeting at The Buffalo Club on Oct. 18. Senior leadership - President Sonia Clark and Vice President Dave Wedekindt - reported to the board of directors on the organization's highlights and accomplishments for its 50th season. The 2023 campaign featured 189 events, workshops and programs that served nearly 100,000 visitors. Artpark & Company's estimated economic impact to the region was $9.7 million.

Witness the insane acrobatics of France's Cirque Inextremiste as they burst onto the basket of a hot-air balloon during a tethered ride, knocking the skies off balance. Their clownish, tightrope-walking, quirky, fiery, spectacular and utterly crazy performance called "Exit" is this Sunday, Aug. 27 (8 p.m.), in the Artpark lower park (near South Fourth Street).

Artpark & Company used extra-small font on its heavy-stock, 8-1/2-by-11 2023 season poster in order to cram in as many listings as possible. It doesn't escape me that this typographical method reflects the standard the performing, visual, educational and environmental arts venue has set by jam-packing summers with concerts, walks, tours and talks.

Christian music superstar, "American Idol" alum and recent guest on "Live with Kelly and Mark," Lauren Daigle made her debut on the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater stage on Friday. A crowd of more than 4,000 raised its hands in song, celebration and enthusiasm as the singer performer her biggest hits and tracks from her new, self-titled album.

Artpark & Company welcomes "Sensing Resonance Premiere: An Informal Performance of Music, Dance and Spoken Word" from 7:30-9 p.m. this Wednesday, July 19, at the Emerald Grove Stage, located in the lower park (South Fourth Street entrance). This event is free and open to the public. It will feature Patrick Perez (saxophone), Cynthia Pegado (interpretive dance) and Robert Giannetti (Artpark Literary Residency poet).

In what has become an annual tradition, the Barenaked Ladies returned to Artpark in Lewiston for a sold-out concert on Tuesday. "The Last Summer on Earth Tour" featured some of the Canadian band's biggest hits - and even more hits from opening acts Del Amitri and Five For Fighting.

It's been a minute since Artpark & Company slotted a straight-up Christian music-making solo artist into its list of concert headliners. In the summer of 2007, Rebecca St. James performed inside the Mainstage Theater to a crowd of about 1,000 people. In this, Artpark's 50th anniversary season, the Lewiston visual, cultural, educational and performing arts company welcomes the genre back - and has not only moved the venue - to the outside amphitheater - but has booked perhaps the biggest name in all of Christian music: Lauren Daigle.

Artpark & Company's Strawberry Moon Festival will return Saturday, June 17. Admission to the afternoon activities (1-6 p.m.) in Artpark's lower park is free. Tickets for the featured evening performances beginning at 6 p.m. outside in the "Niagara 1979 Painted Parking Lot" and stage are $20, on sale at the box office and ticketmaster.com. Chairs and blankets will be allowed for the concert and performances.
