Erie County Agricultural Society scholarship applications now available

The Erie County Agricultural Society (ECAS) is accepting applications for scholarships for 2023. There will be $40,000 in monies awarded to deserving high school seniors and college students up to their junior year. Since its inception in the 1950s, the goal of the scholarship program has been to connect the region's students with agriculture, business and volunteerism.

The Buffalo Sabres Alumni Association will host the 16th Buffalo Sabres Alumni Beer & Wine Festival from 6-9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at KeyBank Center. The event, co-sponsored by KeyBank, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Highmark BlueCross BlueShield of WNY and LECOM, will feature breweries, wineries and restaurants from Buffalo, Niagara-on-the-Lake and beyond.

Hochul proclaims December as STOP-DWI Month

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday issued a proclamation designating December as STOP-DWI Month, and announced a series of targeted initiatives to prevent impaired driving across the state. Throughout December, the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee will launch a new anti-drinking and driving public service announcement. GTSC will also launch a $1 million "Don't Drive High" public awareness campaign, which will use funding from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.
