Change is coming to Grand Island's McDonald's. Located at 2231 Grand Island Blvd., the familiar restaurant had fallen into disrepair. There were complaints of broken things in the restaurant, including a milkshake machine that was often out of order.

Christmas at the Thompson Farm, 2487 Long Road, featured local venders with handmade products for sale, in addition to foods, such as eggs, meat, potatoes, honey, maple syrup, garlic and winter squashes. Handmade products include soaps, baked goods, ornaments and small paintings.

Kathy Hochul on Friday signed legislation (S.9049/A.10176) to modernize the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law and authorize the New York State Liquor Authority to grant eligible catering facilities a license to serve liquor at weddings, banquets or other functions held at locations off-site from the catering facility.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday issued a proclamation designating December as STOP-DWI Month, and announced a series of targeted initiatives to prevent impaired driving across the state. Throughout December, the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee will launch a new anti-drinking and driving public service announcement. GTSC will also launch a $1 million "Don't Drive High" public awareness campaign, which will use funding from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.

New York Farm Bureau's 2022 market basket survey shows the price of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner saw a double-digit price jump from last year's meal. The average total price, which includes a 16-pound turkey and other common items found on a holiday dinner table, is $66.39, about a 26% increase over last year's price of $52.59.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday announced that all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for November. All households participating in SNAP - including those already at the maximum level of benefits - will receive a supplemental allotment this month, resulting in a roughly $234 million infusion of federal funding into the New York state economy.
