Congressman Brian Higgins and U.S. Army Corps Buffalo District Commander Lt. Col. Adam Czekanski announced $4.6 million in federal funding for improvements along Buffalo's Outer Harbor including breakwater repair and dredging.

A Taste of Lewiston returned to Center Street after a decade hiatus, and drew consistently large crowds all day on Saturday. On the one rain-free day this week, local residents and visitors from across the country descended upon the village to sample items from more than a dozen restaurants, and sample goods from another dozen vendors.

But before those steaks and burgers go on the grill, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) wants to remind consumers to keep their family and themselves safe from foodborne illness by using a food thermometer to ensure meat and poultry is cooked to the correct internal temperature.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is asking anglers to avoid spawning lake sturgeon in New York's Great Lakes waters, Great Lakes connecting channels, and tributaries of the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, Finger Lakes, and Oneida Lake. Typically during this time of year, DEC receives multiple reports of lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) caught by anglers fishing for walleye and other species.
