1 million masks received at Kaleida Health

Kaleida Health on Tuesday announced it has received its most recent planned shipment of protective face masks. Purchased from Foam Depot Inc., the 1 million surgical/procedural masks (pictured), are the types the hospital system is using with its "universal masking" guidelines. They are available for staff and visitors to use in all of our sites, including in hospitals, long-term care and home care.

As of noon today, we have received reports of 499 total positive COVID-19 cases in Erie County residents. Eight Erie County residents have died, and 53 people have recovered. There are currently 438 people in isolation.

NYSEG and RG&E, AVANGRID companies, on Monday announced they are donating approximately 17,700 protective masks to assist health care workers across the state amid a shortage of protective gear for medical personnel fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The donation comes on the heels of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's call for assistance as New York continues to face increasing strains on the health care system.

AAA: National pump price for regular drops to $1.99 per gallon, cheapest average in 4 years

The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped below $2 per gallon for the first time in four years. Today's national gas price average dipped to $1.997 to be exact. Here in New York, the average is $2.33 with motorists able to find gas for less than $2.25 per gallon at 24% of gas stations. AAA expects gas prices to drop by at least another quarter in April.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Sunday announced all "New York State on PAUSE" functions will be extended for the next two weeks. He also directed the state nonessential workforce to continue to work from home for an additional two weeks, through April 15. The state will re-evaluate after this additional two-week period.

•On Sunday, Niagara County Public Health Director Daniel J. Stapleton said, "As of today, March 29, Niagara County has 38 positive test results for COVID-19. This is 10 more than our last report and continues the upward trend. Our public health nurses have been working with these individuals all weekend. The heat map that shows test results by municipality with be updated with these new cases on Monday."
House fire in Wheatfield

On Sunday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received numerous 911 calls reporting a house fire at 2176 River Road in the Town of Wheatfield. Upon arrival of deputies, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
