The Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative will hold its first open house, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday March 7, at 1702 Pine Ave, Suite 104, Niagara Falls. The Nest is the new home of the collaborative's activities.

Eastern Niagara Hospital emergency department receives National Elder Mistreatment Grant

Eastern Niagara Hospital was selected as one of six hospitals across the nation to participate in a national pilot funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation and Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation to address elder mistreatment in emergency departments. ENH's participation, funded by a grant through the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York, will enable ENH to serve as one of six pilot sites in the U.S. to facilitate and study the feasibility of an elder mistreatment emergency department care model.

Cuomo issues statement regarding novel coronavirus in New York

"This evening we learned of the first positive case of novel coronavirus — or COVID-19 — in New York state. The patient, a woman in her late 30s, contracted the virus while traveling abroad in Iran, and is currently isolated in her home. The patient has respiratory symptoms, but is not in serious condition and has been in a controlled situation since arriving to New York."

The Diocese of Buffalo has formally filed for Chapter 11 reorganization under the U.S. Federal Bankruptcy code with a primary aim of enabling financial resolution for the most number of individuals who have filed claims under the Child Victims Act - a year-long window that opened on Aug. 14, 2019, that suspends the statute of limitations related to allegations of past sexual abuse.

Blizzard 2020: National Grid increases staffing, prepares for forecasted conditions across portions of upstate New York

National Grid is increasing evening and overnight staffing and closely monitoring the winter storm forecasted to bring blizzard conditions to portions of upstate New York on Thursday and Friday. High winds and heavy snow accumulation are expected in Western and Central New York, particularly in communities east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and in the Adirondacks. Customers are encouraged to keep safety a priority.
