Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced New York state adopted a first-in-the-nation drinking water standard for emerging contaminant 1,4-dioxane, setting the maximum contaminant level of 1 part per billion for 1,4-dioxane.

The reopening plan provides for in-person instruction, remote learning, and a hybrid of the two approaches as required by NYSED. Earlier today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced three additional states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., meet the metrics to qualify for the travel advisory requiring individuals who have traveled to New York from those areas, all of which have significant community spread, to quarantine for 14 days. The newly added states are Illinois, Kentucky and Minnesota. No states have been removed.

As part of the enforcement operation, enforcement teams will be stationed at airports statewide to meet arriving aircrafts at gates and greet disembarking passengers to request proof of completion of the State Department of Health traveler form, which is being distributed to passengers by airlines prior to, and upon boarding or disembarking flights to New York.
