Erie County DOH outlines plan to vaccinate residents with certain medical conditions

A press release noted, "After consulting with local infectious disease and medical experts, ECDOH decided to distribute next week's NYS-directed vaccine allocation to hospitals for people with comorbid conditions. As of this media release, ECDOH has not been notified of the vaccine allotment for this population for the week of Feb. 14. Hospitals will evaluate inpatients during their hospital stay and vaccinate those who are most at-risk due to one or more comorbidities. Hospitals will also identify outpatients with significant comorbidities, such as those accessing specialty clinics, and offer them COVID-19 vaccine."
Cuomo: Restaurant & bar closing times to be extended to 11 pm statewide

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced that, given the continued decline in hospitalization and infection rates throughout New York, closing times for restaurants and bars will be extended from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. statewide beginning Sunday, Feb. 14.

NYS passes 2 million vaccination doses administered

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday announced the state has administered over 2,136,209 vaccine doses through the state's vaccination program. The total week 8 federal allocation of vaccine delivery to providers was to be completed yesterday. As of 11 a.m. Sunday, New York's health care distribution sites had received 1,874,975 first doses and already administered 87% (1,627,191) of first dose vaccinations and 76% of first and second doses. Delivery of the week 9 allocation from the federal government begins mid-week.

In honor of Black History Month, Old Fort Niagara will host a special tour at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, highlighting African Americans who served at the military post from the 18th through the 20th centuries. The tour will recount the life of Richard Pierpoint, a former slave, who served as a member of Butler's Rangers during the American Revolution. Pierpoint went on to support the British during the War of 1812.
