Erie County continuing update of hazard mitigation plan

Erie County is updating its hazard mitigation plan. The HMP documents the county's vulnerability to natural and manmade hazards and identifies approaches to diminish the county's, cities', towns' and villages' vulnerability to those hazards.

Before they all departed for basic training, a party was held at the Island Lanes, and they all received good wishes from everyone.

Barring a monumental miracle by June 1, the Toronto Blue Jays will again call downtown Buffalo's Sahlen Field home. The Canadian government has yet to grant them approval to return to the Rogers Centre. With COVID-19 cases on the rise in Canada, and Ontario recently entering another lockdown, it is unlikely the Jays will return to the field they last called home in 2019 anytime soon.

Jennifer Leah Buckley, a resident of Grand Island for 14 years, passed away on Jan. 14, 2021, after a long battle with an illness. Born on Aug. 6, 1964, she passed too soon at the age of 56. She is survived by her mother, Janice Piepke of Umatilla, Florida; her partner, Dean Morakis of Grand Island; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
