The Grand Island Lions Club will hold the 50th annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Special Kids Picnic from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the ballroom of Radisson Grand Island, 100 Whitehaven Road. The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad and Italian bread. Money from the event will support the annual Special Kids Picnic in July.

The SYEP is an important platform to introduce youth 14 through 20 years of age to the workforce. The program and its ancillary training opportunities help participants acquire skills to improve school performance and expand educational and career goals.

The Garden Walk is a free event for participating gardens and for the public. Hundreds of visitors have toured and admired Island gardens during past walks, and such annual successes have the planning committee excited for the 2019 gardening season.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announced a slate of county public works projects that are planned for 2019 on Monday, March 25. This year, Erie County will spend over $40 million to maintain and repair county roads along with bridges and other structures, including curbing and drainage.
