Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper is a 30-year-old nonprofit, presiding over an area of some of the most memorable waterways in the world. It's not just Niagara Falls, the Great Lakes Erie and Ontario, rivers Niagara and Buffalo. It also encompasses the groundwater, the creeks, the riverbeds and tributaries, all of which are part of the greater Buffalo Niagara watershed.

"At this time, Niagara County has four voluntarily quarantined individuals. Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of well people, who may have been exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick. These public health actions are precautionary in nature and follow all CDC guidance. We will continue to provide information as the situation warrants."

On Tuesday night at North Tonawanda's Common Council Meeting, Mayor Arthur Pappas commented on the lack of communication between officials in the City of North Tonawanda and the City of Tonawanda, in regard to the upcoming Canal Fest, an annual summer festival featuring rides, games and fireworks on the border of the two cities overlooking the Erie Canal.

The Niagara County Legislature is expected to take up four resolutions tonight directed squarely at New York's Article 10 law, which involves the siting of electric generating facilities in this state. The law, which legislators said took away local control over siting decision and instead gave control to the Board of Electric Generation Siting and the Environment, has become a source of controversy as large wind and solar developers have descended on Niagara County to site their facilities.
