Niagara Hospice announced a major gift from Drive Against Diabetes (D.A.D.) to its fall fundraising campaign toward the purchase of two new automated medication-dispensing system units at Hospice House.
'Festival of Slice' canceled

NYS: $24.3 million for recreation & historic preservation projects through round XII of REDC initiative

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $24.3 million has been awarded to support 56 municipalities and not-for-profit organizations for park improvements, heritage area enhancements and historic preservation projects through round XII of the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative. The grants from the Environmental Protection Fund are administered by the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Women United of Greater Niagara's annual personal hygiene drive has wrapped up for the year. On Wednesday, Woman United volunteers gathered at the United Way office in Sanborn to separate and sort the estimated $5,000 of donated products for distribution to the nine local nonprofit agencies the drive supports.
Niagara Hospice House expansion opens to patients

Niagara Hospice announced the Hospice House expanded residential wing is now open to admit patients at 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport. After a year of construction, the six new residential patient suites bring the total at the facility to 16, the maximum allowed by New York.
Niagara County Community College to host inaugural cannabis conference

The inaugural SUNY cannabis conference will take place Jan. 10, 2023, at Niagara County Community College, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn. Niagara University announces construction of solar array on campus

Niagara University announced it has partnered with Montante Solar to develop and maintain a solar array on its Lewiston campus. History Center receives Conservation Grant

At 3:13 a.m. Wednesday, Niagara County Sheriff's Office Deputy F. Bork attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the area of Woodland Avenue and Saint Joseph Road in the Town of Niagara. NCSO said, "The operator refused to comply and a vehicle pursuit ensued throughout the Town of Niagara. Ultimately, in the area of Sadlo Drive and Bellreng Drive, the two occupants fled from the vehicle on foot into the neighborhood.

Niagara County clerk: Federal government delaying enforcement of REAL ID requirements for 2 more years

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski on Tuesday said the federal Department of Homeland Security is delaying enforcement of REAL ID requirements by 24 months, from May 3, 2023, to May 7, 2025. At that time, one will need a REAL ID to board any domestic flights, enter a military base and access certain federal facilities.
