More than 6,500 outstanding career and technical education students - all contest winners - competed in 108 different trade, technical and leadership fields.
Structure fire in Town of Niagara

On June 24, at 10:23 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received several 911 calls reporting a structure fire at an apartment building located at 3143 Bellreng Drive in the Town of Niagara.
Ortt announces revolving loan fund for Niagara County

Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt on Monday announced that, with the help of federal representatives, Niagara County has been awarded the Revolving Loan Fund of $3.9 million. These monies will help fund the clean-up process of brownfield projects, ranging from cleaning buildings with asbestos or lead contamination, to assessing and cleaning abandoned properties.
YWCA slates 49 Tremont development opening ceremony

Falls crews working to fix water main break

On Sunday morning, the Office of City of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino announced a 20-inch water main break at James Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard. The Niagara Falls Water Board reported lower water pressure in the DeVeaux area due to the size of the break. Crews were on site for repair. A picture of the split in water main is shown above.

Niagara County clerk helps vets sign up for 'Thank A Vet' program

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski welcomed a group of veterans to the Niagara County Courthouse on Tuesday to sign up for the county's "Thank A Vet" program and receive their photo I.D. card. This card entitles veterans to discounts on the purchase of goods and services at more than 500 participating businesses throughout Niagara County.

Morinello to sponsor car seat safety check at Niagara SPCA

Assemblyman Angelo Morinello is sponsoring a free car seat safety check at the Niagara SPCA from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 23. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be on site inspecting car seats to help ensure child safety. There will be a variety of food, including hot dogs, baked goods and ice cream available for sale. The Niagara County SPCA also will have meet-and-greet pet adoptions.
Niagara County Youth Bureau summer food service program

The Niagara County Youth Bureau is sponsoring the summer food service program (SFSP) and announcing the open program site locations. This program ensures all children continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation. Meals are comparable to the national school breakfast and national school lunch programs throughout the school year.

Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti, in partnership with the Niagara County Legislature, recently announced the acquisition and deployment of epinephrine auto-injector devices, also known as EpiPen. EpiPen is a life-saving medication used when someone is experiencing a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis.
'Thursdays on the Water' announces 2022 summer concert lineup

After a two-year hiatus, the annual NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala will return in person with a special diamond theme to mark the occasion. Niagara County to realign Bear Ridge/Tonawanda Creek intersection

Niagara County Legislator Tony Nemi announced the county's Department of Public Works will realign the intersection of Bear Ridge and Tonawanda Creek roads in the Town of Pendleton, which should improve public safety at the intersection. The changes follow a study DPW commissioned from engineering firm Wendel.
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary donates to MRI

The Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has donated $25,000 to the hospital's MRI campaign. Funds will directly support Memorial's quest to acquire a 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit, which will be the only one of its kind in Niagara County, and housed on the medical center's downtown Niagara Falls campus.

Niagara & Wyoming counties have achieved state emergency management accreditation

Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced Niagara and Wyoming counties achieved accreditation through New York state's local emergency management accreditation program. Niagara County Emergency Services and the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services are the latest emergency management organizations in New York to achieve accreditation, joining Albany, Broome, Chemung, Erie, Livingston, Madison, Montgomery, Nassau, Oneida, Saratoga, Washington and Wayne counties, as well as New York City.
