Community Missions launches 'Girls Circle' at Kenan Center

Community Missions has launched its "Girls Circle" at the Kenan Center, marking the girls empowerment program's first foray into eastern Niagara County. Sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the month of August.

Statewide effort to prevent speeding

The Niagara County Legislature voted Tuesday to allocate up to $100,000 for the construction of a new Purple Heart monument on the grounds of the Niagara County Courthouse in Lockport. The vote endorsed the recommendations of an ad hoc committee that was formed earlier this year to come up with a design and a location to honor Niagara County's Purple Heart recipients.

NFPD investigating gunshot victim

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, July 29, Niagara Falls Police and Niagara Falls Fire departments responded to an address in the 500 block of 19th Street for a report of an unresponsive male. The 59-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound and was deceased at the scene.
