The Niagara County Center for Economic Development announced the launch of the new Niagara County Façade Program (NCFP). The NCFP will provide matching grants up to $50,000 for eligible businesses in order to rejuvenate their properties to help bring vibrancy to the central business districts in communities across the county. The county has allocated $3 million for the program through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

The Niagara County Department of Public Works is now accepting applications for seasonal help for the 2022 season. Positions are currently open at the five county parks, the Niagara County Golf Course, and the highway department. Seasonally employees earn $14.20 per hour.

Appeal 2022 in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo and the diocesan "Fund for the Faith" has reached the $5 million mark. Appeal officials announced the annual campaign has raised $5,115,517, which is 53.8% of the $9.5 million goal.

Catholic Health announced Tuesday it has secured orders from several investors for $58.5 million in bonds to fund construction of its Lockport Memorial Hospital. In addition to the new hospital, which will become a campus of Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Niagara County, the bond financing will support cardiac catheterization room renovations at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and other small infrastructure projects across the system.

Camp Aspire provides up to 240 children a full camp experience. It focuses on educating children about the importance of blood glucose (blood sugar) management, and empowers them to manage their diabetes actively and independently.

On Tuesday, Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, directed the SBA to provide additional deferment of principal and interest payments for existing COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program borrowers. That makes a total of 30 months deferment from inception on all approved COVID-19 EIDL loans.

Lt. Col. Andrew J. Carlson will take command of the New York Air National Guard's 107th Attack Wing from Col. Gary R. Charlton II during a ceremony at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station on Saturday. Charlton has assumed command of the 105th Airlift Wing at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh.

For a limited time, the American Red Cross has resumed testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for coronavirus antibodies. Plasma from routine donations that have high levels of antibodies may be used as convalescent plasma to help meet the needs of COVID-19 patients with weakened immune systems.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1600 block of Pine Avenue for a report of a man shot. Upon arrival, patrol officers located the 29-year-old victim who had been shot in the upper arm.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is now offering in-house dialysis service to medical center patients. Inpatient dialysis treatment will now be administered by Memorial staff throughout the medical center's campus, eliminating the need for an outside renal contractor.
