Women served by the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara, a service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, along with clients of Memorial's P3 Center for Teens, Moms and Kids, have received awards totaling $122,133.11 from the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund (PEAF).

Assemblyman Angelo Morinello is sponsoring a free car seat safety check at the Niagara SPCA from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 23. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be on site inspecting car seats to help ensure child safety. There will be a variety of food, including hot dogs, baked goods and ice cream available for sale. The Niagara County SPCA also will have meet-and-greet pet adoptions.

The Niagara County Youth Bureau is sponsoring the summer food service program (SFSP) and announcing the open program site locations. This program ensures all children continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation. Meals are comparable to the national school breakfast and national school lunch programs throughout the school year.

Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti, in partnership with the Niagara County Legislature, recently announced the acquisition and deployment of epinephrine auto-injector devices, also known as EpiPen. EpiPen is a life-saving medication used when someone is experiencing a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Niagara County Community College. After a two-year hiatus, the annual NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala will return in person with a special diamond theme to mark the occasion. This event is the primary fundraiser to support student scholarships, and will take place Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.

The Niagara County Community College Alumni Association is partnering with the Buffalo Bisons this summer to offer discounted tickets to home games for the 2022 season. A portion of each discounted ticket sold to Buffalo Bisons home games will benefit the NCCC Foundation/alumni.

Niagara County Legislator Tony Nemi announced the county's Department of Public Works will realign the intersection of Bear Ridge and Tonawanda Creek roads in the Town of Pendleton, which should improve public safety at the intersection. The changes follow a study DPW commissioned from engineering firm Wendel.

The Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has donated $25,000 to the hospital's MRI campaign. Funds will directly support Memorial's quest to acquire a 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit, which will be the only one of its kind in Niagara County, and housed on the medical center's downtown Niagara Falls campus.

WNY Book Arts Center (Book Arts) will launch the 2022 PRINTING PARTNERS sessions in conjunction with community partner Carnegie Art Center. Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced Niagara and Wyoming counties achieved accreditation through New York state's local emergency management accreditation program. Niagara County Emergency Services and the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services are the latest emergency management organizations in New York to achieve accreditation, joining Albany, Broome, Chemung, Erie, Livingston, Madison, Montgomery, Nassau, Oneida, Saratoga, Washington and Wayne counties, as well as New York City.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will now offer a nutrition program in the Summit Orthopaedic Center, located in suite 700 of the Summit Healthplex (6934 Williams Road, Niagara Falls). Starting June 8, outpatient registered dietitian Diana Korzhukova, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., will see patients at the center for nutrition counseling every Wednesday.
