USDA seeks feedback from producers about 2023 crops, stocks, inventories & values

Over the next several weeks, USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will conduct two major mid-year surveys: the June agricultural survey and the June area survey. The agency will contact more than 4,000 producers across the 11-state northeastern region to determine crop acreage and stock levels as of June 1, 2023.

Jastrzemski reminds drivers who renewed license by self-certifying vision to submit vision test to DMV to avoid suspension

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski on Tuesday reminded drivers who renewed their license between March 1, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2021, by self-certifying their vision but have failed to submit the results of a vision test to the Department of Motor Vehicles that they face suspension of their license. Drivers who fall into this category should have received a letter from the state DMV.
CAM: New Niagara University student-curated exhibition showcases works of local potter

Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University has a new student-curated exhibition, "Shaping Nature," by Buffalo-based Japanese potter Junko McGee that explores the relationship between nature and artistry, on view through Oct. 29. "Shaping Nature" is McGee's first solo exhibition, curated by Niagara University's exhibiting cultures class, led by senior lecturer and CAM Curator of Folk Arts Edward Y. Millar.

Structure fire in Wilson

On May 8, at approximately 7:05 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received multiple 911 calls reporting a possible residential structure fire at 23 Joshua Drive in the Town of Wilson. It was advised that heavy smoke was coming from a manufactured home in the Rainbow Mobile Home Park.

Suspicious person/weapons violation in Niagara Falls

On May 6, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a call reporting that a suspicious male was in possession of a gun. The male was reported to have stated that he was going to shoot someone. The male was originally reported to be in the area of Hyde Park Boulevard in the Town of Niagara.

On May 18, Altaf Stationwala, president/CEO at Mackenzie Health, will provide the commencement address for NU's Ontario graduates, who will celebrate at a ceremony at the Meridian Centre.

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the westbound Niagara Scenic Parkway will be closed in the City of Niagara Falls from the LaSalle Expressway to Buffalo Avenue on Tuesday, May 9, to facilitate paving. The closure will be in place from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists traveling westbound should follow the posted detour.
