O'Hara summer camps offered

Openings still exist at Cardinal O'Hara High School's new summer camps for students from fourth through eighth grades. Summer academy, a mix of science, arts, sports and fun, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 31 to Aug. 4.
Sunday motor vehicle accident in Wheatfield

On June 11 at 01:42 a.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Division received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle accident on Plaza Drive, in the Town of Wheatfield. Initial responding deputies observed a vehicle, which had struck an apartment complex located at 6855 Plaza Drive.

On Friday, New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Environmental Conservation Chair Deborah J. Glick announced the Assembly passed an updated version of the Birds and Bees Protection Act, which restricts the use of neonicotinoid pesticides (A.7640, Glick).

Seven new merchants are opening their doors at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA, including four locally owned stores, two family attractions, and a food court restaurant. In addition, Elegant Fashion, a store that has been with the Fashion Outlets for many years, has relocated near Entrance 7. All merchants are expected to open prior to July. Each is located within the indoor portion of the center.

Today's weather forecast predicts an unhealthy air quality for Western New York and Niagara County. The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) recommends that all residents take precautions to reduce health risks associated with the ongoing unhealthy air quality. Residents should remain inside as much as possible, with doors and windows closed, and use an air purifier or air conditioner with a high-efficiency filter.
