The moon will pass between the sun and the earth and block the sun from view. On April 8, in some key areas, the sky will darken as if it is dawn or dusk, according to NASA.

Niagara County Manager Rick Updegrove today announced that all Niagara County office buildings and offices will be closed Monday, April 8, for the solar eclipse, with the exception of the Board of Elections. Some essential employees will still be required to report.

At approximately 1:54 p.m. Sunday, March 31, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a report of a possible domestic violence disturbance at a location in the 2400 block of Orleans Avenue. Upon arrival, patrol officers located an unresponsive female on the floor, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's name is not being released at this time.
