Wheatfield, Niagara County officers sworn into office

In the spirit of "Government Closest To The People," a very fine inaugural event took place on this first day of the year 2024 at the Wheatfield Community and Senior Center with the swearing-In and official installation of officers of the Town of Wheatfield, and of members of the Niagara County Legislature.
'Jolicoeur's Journey' at Old Fort Niagara

On Saturday, Jan. 13, Old Fort Niagara will present a special winter adventure called "Jolicoeur's Journey," an interactive living history program based on the memoirs of Jolicoeur Charles Bonin. The young soldier trekked from Quebec to Fort Niagara in the winter of 1754.

Niagara County Community College (NCCC) has announced the launch of a national search for its eighth president, who will succeed Dr. William Murabito upon his retirement on June 30, 2024. LPD finds deceased person on university campus

On Dec. 19 at 1:45 p.m., the Lewiston Police Department was dispatched to Niagara University for an unresponsive person. Upon arrival, patrols found a female deceased from apparent weather-related conditions.

NYS: 'Transformative,' $479 million investment for 156 local water infrastructure projects in every region

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $479 million in grants for critical water infrastructure projects, including the first funding awarded through the $4.2 billion Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022, which was passed by voters after Hochul pushed to increase the total amount by $1 billion upon taking office.
