Village of Lewiston trustees approved several community events at their work session on Monday:

•Trick-or-treating hours will run from 4-8 p.m. on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31.

•Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487 will host the annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the “Circle of Honor” monument in Academy Park.

•The Lewiston Garden Club was granted permission to use Academy Park and the pavilion from May 15-17, 2025, to host a perennial sale. The annual GardenFest will take place along Center Street on the weekend of June 21-22.

•Finally, the Lewiston Council on the Arts will hold a July 4 celebration, the “Summer of ’69” concert (Friday, July 11), and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (Saturday, July 26, in partnership with DiMino’s Lewiston Tops) – all at Academy Park; and “Blue Mondays” at Hennepin Park on Mondays, June 30, July 7-28, and Aug. 4. If Artpark & Company has a concert slated for any of those nights, the LCA will move its show to Academy Park.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the Village Board:

•Accepted Chairwoman Doreen Albee’s resignation from the Planning Commission, effective Oct. 14.

•Approved the quote from Blue Ox Roofing, in the amount of $28,813, to remove and repair a damaged roof area (and overlay the entire section with a new membrane) at the Red Brick Municipal Building; and agreed to pay the fee, upon completion of the project, out of the RB recreation bathrooms account.

New Department of Public Works Superintendent Anthony Mang explained, “Basically, this is the most cost-effective way in order to get a warranty that’s going to extend this for a significant amount of time (15 years). It’s going to repair all the problem areas that are over the gymnasium on the east wall.”

He noted the work, “is to flash everything up over the side of the brick retaining wall at the top, and it is also to cap all the cornerstones. There will be no masonry work required above surface.”

A secondary roof gutter also will be rerouted.
