GardenFest start of festival season in Lewiston
Members of the Lewiston Garden Club recently met with representatives from the Wegmans Military Road Store to thank them for sponsoring the container garden contest at GardenFest 2021, taking place June 19 and 20 on Center Street. Organizers are encouraging both adults and children to enter the contest. Be as creative as you want to be or submit a traditional entry.
The entry application link and pictures of past winners can be found at www.lewistongardenfest.com. The public votes for the winners. Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. Sunday.
GardenFest features more than 70 vendors selling flowers, plants and handcrafted art and garden essentials. Additional highlights include a garden walk and the aforementioned contain- er garden contest.
Proceeds from Lewiston GardenFest go back into the soil of the local community for civic beautification efforts and scholarships.
Organizers are taking measures to ensure a safe event for all. Helping to contribute to the event complying with current coronavirus safety guidelines, Catholic Health-Mount St. Mary’s Hospital donated face masks that will be available for those who may need them. The coverings will be available at the hospitality tents located at South Fourth and Center streets, and North Seventh and Center streets.
Also at hospitality, participants will be able to register for the event and obtain GardenFest programs, which list the gardens that will be open for viewing during the two-day event.
