Festival season is now underway in the River Region. Next up for many is a visit out to Ransomville.

Coming up next Saturday, June 8, is the patriotic Ransomville Flag Day Parade, followed by the annual party in the hamlet – better known as the Ransomville Community Faire.

Organizers invite all for what they’re calling a “celebration of family.”

Parade head Ruth Ann Buzzard agreed with that description.

“There has never been a more important time for all of us to recognize the importance of family in our lives, and in a close-knit community like Ransomville, New York,” Buzzard said. “It’s time for us to celebrate family.

“There’s no place like home. Come out to the Ransomville Flag Day Parade as a spectator or participant.”

Buzzard and parade committee member Mark Kennedy pointed out their group, this year, wishes to recognize the importance of family. And what a better way to celebrate that than with a parade?

“On this day, we recognize how families nurture and bond with each other, with the goal of giving each other their underlying support,” Kennedy said.

The parade itself will get underway at 11 a.m. at the Ransomville American Legion O. Leo Curtiss Post No. 830, 2589 Youngstown-Lockport Road. Expected to join in are long-time WKBW-TV Channel 7 news anchor Keith Radford, parade color guard units, the Sanborn Fire Co. Band, the Renegades Drum Line from Lancaster, the Prime Time Brass Band from Rochester, State Troopers and District 20N Lions Club members. Joining them will be an assortment of floats, elected officials, bands, classic cars and much more.

“We invite everyone to come to this year’s Ransomville Flag Day Parade to celebrate family, as there is ‘no place like home’ than in Ransomville,” event organizers said.

The parade concludes in the parking lot of the Ransomville Free Library, 3733 Ransomville Road. There, opening ceremonies for the daylong Ransomville Community Faire, organized by the Ransomville Historical Room, will take place.

Families are welcome to spend the day, and enjoy musical entertainment, children’s activities, a food tent, a basket auction, and a plant and book sale in the Historical Room.

All ages are welcome to attend.

“Come celebrate family with us,” Buzzard said.
