Town of Niagara: New splash pad opening

Fri, Jun 30th 2017 06:10 pm
A few lucky children had a chance to try out the new splash pad Monday afternoon at the Town of Niagara's Veterans Memorial Community Park. But first, local elected officials and dignitaries cut the ribbon marking the project's completion.
"We're excited about it, and I think it will be a big hit," Town of Niagara Supervisor Lee Wallace said.
The project was made possible with funds granted through the New York Power Authority, Niagara River Greenway Commission and Niagara County and New York state.
During the ribbon-cutting, Thomas Haag, representing Congressman Chris Collins office, presented the town with a proclamation for the new attraction.
The process of bringing the splash pad to the park took approximately two years.
The splash pad will officially open to the public Saturday, just in time for the summer season.
Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
Parents can register their children for the splash pad any day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Town of Niagara recreation office in the Calvin K. Richards Senior/Youth Activity Center located in Veteran's Memorial Community Park, 7000 Lockport Road.
Once registered, children will receive a wristband that must be worn when accessing the splash pad throughout the summer.
