A group of about a dozen volunteers, led by Alderwoman Donna Braun, met to clean up Heritage Park in North Tonawanda Saturday.

The group picked up litter, raked leaves and trimmed bushes to ready the park for warm weather visitors - and not a moment too soon, as the park could be looking at some upgrades in the future.

Braun has been in communication with National Grid, which plans to install lighting in the park this summer. Braun and the volunteers also discussed what improvements they might like to see around the park. More benches were one of the goals that came out of those talks. One volunteer also suggested a gazebo, which Braun said would definitely be a long-term goal, but a feasible one.
