Hello, Wheatfield, Town of Niagara and Sanborn! As I'm sure you noticed last week, Sue Campbell has retired as Tribune editor, and I'll be taking over from here on out.

It's a little scary, because Sue did such a fantastic job - I know I've got a lot to live up to! But I'm excited to be here, covering the news in my hometown. I'm a Wheatfield girl, born and raised, and I love this place as much as you do.

In fact, the chance to write about Wheatfield was the entire reason I began interning at Niagara Frontier Publications this summer. I never expected it would lead to an editorial position, especially one right out of college, but I consider myself very fortunate to have this chance.

Right now, I'm in my last semester studying journalism at SUNY Buffalo State, where I'm also the news editor of the student paper, The Record. I know I may seem a little young for this job, but the professional experience I've gotten from the school paper and from interning at Niagara Frontier Publications has prepared me very well.

Anyway, I'll keep this introduction short, sweet and to the point, just like the news.

The purpose of a newspaper is to inform and serve its community, and that means, in the end, I answer to all of you. Please bear with me for the coming weeks as I settle in here at the Tribune. I look forward to working with you all.

After all, there's no place like home.
