"So many families are struggling with hopelessness and despair," stated Mike Chorey, a native to Grand Island who is a pastor at Cross River Church in Niagara Falls. Chorey was speaking about the impetus for a Gospel crusade, the "Field of Miracles: The Return," which will come to Sal Maglie Stadium for three days in August.

The program includes music, Bible teaching and healing services, all geared to a multi-generational, God-centered message of hope.

Chorey has long had a vision for an "old fashioned, Holy Ghost-filled evangelistic crusade" in Niagara Falls and surrounding communities. The theme of the event (taken from Old Testament scripture) says it all: "Return to me, and I will return to you," said Chorey, who anticipates many individuals "coming to the cross of Jesus Christ for salvation and healing."

Chorey put together a similar "Field of Miracles" in Rochester some years back. The 2013 version in Niagara Falls has been seven years in planning. Chorey emphasized that, while the crusade is in Niagara Falls, he hopes to see families from surrounding communities attending the event.

The three-day lineup includes nationally recognized evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and his grandson, Gabriel Swaggart. The senior Swaggart began a television ministry in the '70s, which continues to air all over the world. Grandson Gabriel Swaggart is the youth pastor of Family Worship Center Church in Baton Rouge, La., and the head of CrossFire Youth Ministries.

Chorey sees "Field of Miracles: The Return" as "three days to come together to fellowship with Jesus Christ. God calls us His friends."

In addition, Bob Cornell of World Evangelism Bible College in Baton Rouge will present a seminar called "How to Live the Victorious Christian Life." The seminar on Saturday, Aug. 10, is free of charge, but will be at a separate venue - the Niagara Falls High School Performing Arts Center.

The events at Sal Maglie Stadium will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, and on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Sunday service starts at 6 p.m. Parking is free around the ballpark, and free shuttle buses will travel between the stadium and overflow parking at Niagara Falls High School on Porter Road.

All three days are free of charge. A free-will offering will be provided for donations. Promotional materials for interested churches and organizations are also available at the website, or by calling 716-284-8173.

Sal Maglie Stadium is located at 1200 Hyde Park Blvd., in Niagara Falls.
