Independence Day with a bang

Celebrate Independence Day in style, with the following activities in the area:

•Wednesday, July 3, fireworks will fly over Lake Ontario at 10 p.m. in the hamlet of Olcott.

Regarded by many as the prettiest fireworks on the lake, the fireworks are best viewed from the Lake Ontario shoreline, Krull Park and Olcott Beach. Boats sail and motor on the lake while fireworks burst into colors overhead.

Fireworks fly off the west pier.

•Thursday, July 4, the Patriots Parade will take place in Olcott beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The public is invited to dress up in red, white and blue, and decorate bikes and wagons. Meet at the Krull Park overlook in the north park by noon and march to Olcott Beach Carousel Park.

Free ice cream and ride ticket for participants.

•Fireworks will light up the Lewiston sky July 4 at dusk. The rain date is Friday.

•Canada Day fireworks can be viewed off the Village of Youngstown public docks at dusk on Monday.
