The Town of Niagara Lions Club celebrated its 60th anniversary last Saturday at Antonio's Banquet Hall in Niagara Falls.

In the program booklet, Lion President Paul Peters wrote: "Thanks to the charter members and all members that have proudly served the Town of Niagara Lions for 60 years. We have helped the sight, hearing and physically impaired. Within the educational process, we have presented to many participants the Lee Corra Scholarship and proudly throughout the years honored students in the Niagara-Wheatfield elementary schools with the Citizenship Awards. These awards are given with great pride and received with such enthusiasm. During the holidays and all year, we have supported and helped organizations in need and proudly give to the food pantries and many more needy situations. The Town of Niagara Lions Club has been very active in vision screening, thus helping thousands of children in the area in detecting early vision problems. We can be very proud of our dedicated members for their everlasting service. Many friendships have developed within the club and our sister club in St. Catharines, Ontario, and throughout Ontario, Canada. I am positive that the Town of Niagara Lions Club will continue to serve the community in the manner and dedication that has been exhibited in the last 60 years."
