Theodore's enjoying 'Red Hot' success

When a new restaurant opens three establishments in just 18 months, you know that the owners must be doing something right.

That's just what the owners of Theodore's Red Hots have accomplished with their three eateries, including the newest location in Amherst. But, it shouldn't be surprising, really. After all, Theodore Liaros has spent most of his life working in the family business ... creating everyone's favorite charcoal-broiled hot dogs and hamburgers.

He and his wife, Beth Liaros, caused quite a stir when they were fired by that famous local family chain with a similar name and out on their own. Turns out, it was good thing for them, two other members of their management team, and their growing customer base. Along with Vice President of Operations Richard Mobarak and Regional Manager Greg Samek, they have more than 100 years of combined "char-broiled" experience.

Theodore's Red Hots, which opened its first restaurant at 1752 Grand Island Blvd., has since added 3385 Union Road in Cheektowaga and 7500 Transit Road in Amherst.

Theodore says customer response has been tremendous. People love the food, of course, but they also comment on the cleanliness of the restaurants. The term "squeaky clean" shows up numerous blog postings.

The Theodore's menu is pretty simple, and charcoal-grilled hot dogs and burgers are the main items, along with chicken and sausage sandwiches. But, customers also love the side dishes available at all three locations, especially "Theo's Frings," which is a half order of fries and a half order of onion rings.

There's a fish sandwich available, too, along with a kids menu and Johnnie Ryan soft drinks.

Future plans include expansion to other sites in the Buffalo area and why not? After all, it's been said you "can't get too much of good thing," and the popularity of the food and the success it has produced for Theodore's Red Hots is clearly a good thing.
