Painters Plus announced the start of its annual “Project H.O.P.E.” (“Helping Others Paint Exteriors”) application acceptance period for North Tonawanda residents.

The owner of Painters Plus, Niagara County Legislator Jesse Gooch, created “Project H.O.P.E.” in 2011 as a citywide campaign to help beautify exterior homes for people and families in need.

Over the past 10 years, Gooch and his team have painted home exteriors for the elderly, cancer patients, terminally ill individuals, Vietnam and World War II veterans. To date, Painters Plus has donated over $100,000 in value of free home painting jobs for people in need.

In conjunction with the office of North Tonawanda Mayor Austin Tylec, Painters Plus will accept applicants until Sept. 1. Applications are available at the North Tonawanda City Hall or Painters Plus office at 800 Walck Road, North Tonawanda.

One can apply for themself or nominate a neighbor in need.

Tylec said, “This is a great opportunity for any homeowner who cannot afford to paint their house, and a way for Mr. Gooch and his team to give back the community. I’m excited this program is back for North Tonawanda.”

Applicants or nominees must own their home. One winner will be chosen. For more information, call Painters Plus at 716-693-7587 or visit www.paintersplus.us.

The winner will be announced Sept. 8, and the job will take place at 9 a.m. Sept. 16, weather-permitting.

Paint is donated by Sherwin Williams. Lunch will be provided for volunteers by a local pizzeria.
