On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Villa Maria College will open its doors to the general public for a Health and Wellness Fair. Held in partnership with the college’s on-campus food pantry, the Sister Mary Josette Food Pantry, the Health and Wellness Fair offers attendees the opportunity to receive COVID-19 vaccinations through Erie County, and flu shots through Rite-Aid.

In addition, dozens of additional vendors will be present to provide health-related information and prizes. The Health and Wellness Fair is scheduled to take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Villa Maria’s dining hall, which is located at 240 Pine Ridge Road, Buffalo.

The college stated, “According to the CDC, current guidance has shown that COVID-19 vaccines can be co-administered with other vaccines, including influenza vaccines.”

To register to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at Villa Maria College’s health fair, visit www.erie.gov/vax. The Erie County Department of Health encourages attendees to make an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome. Attendees may elect to receive either the Pfizer vaccine or the Moderna vaccine. There is no cost to get the vaccine.

Rite-Aid is encouraging anyone who wants to receive a flu shot to make an appointment, but it will also accommodate walk-ins. Appointments can be made by following this link: https://riteaid.reportsonline.com/rsched/program/VMC2021. Rite-Aid will take health insurance information as well as out-of-pocket payments on Oct. 7 at the Health and Wellness Fair.

Villa Maria College is a private, Catholic college, founded in 1961 by the Felician Sisters. For more information, call 716-896-0700 or visit www.villa.edu
