The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update Friday on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County:
“We have completed two days of voluntary rapid testing of teachers and staff in the Niagara Falls School District, including Maple Avenue Elementary School,” Niagara County Public Health Director Daniel J. Stapleton said. “We completed approximately 186 tests and had two positive cases. That gives us an infection rate of 1%, which is very good.
“I commend Superintendent Laurrie for his strong response and his collaborative approach in working with my team at the Health Department. Quick, decisive action is paramount to preventing a widespread outbreak and so far I’m cautiously optimistic. But as we know with COVID-19, you cannot let your guard down.”
