At approximately 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning, a Niagara Falls Police Department patrol officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 500 block of 12th Street, in regard to a robbery investigation.

As the operator stopped the vehicle, two people immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Backup officers arrived in the area and were able to locate the two people that fled, both of whom were determined to be juveniles. One of those juveniles, a 17-year-old, was found in possession of two loaded handguns.

That juvenile was taken into custody and charged with gun possession.

Due to his age, and in accordance with New York state law, he was released to a family member with an appearance ticket. He will appear in court in March to answer to the charges of two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, second degree.
