Mayor Byron Brown joined Buffalo Police Department leadership on Wednesday to announce the anonymous donation of approximately 8,000 N95 face masks to the BPD.
“An anonymous member of our community has stepped up to donate these N95 masks, which will be distributed to police officers in every district across our city,” Brown said. “The N95 masks will be used by our over 715 police officers, who are on the streets each and every day, working with and assisting the public during the ongoing COVID-19 surge.”
Brown noted N95 masks are considered much more effective than standard surgical masks in preventing spread of the highly transmissible omicron variant of the coronavirus.
“This generous donation is another sign that we truly are the City of Good Neighbors,” Brown added.
