Following New York state guidance, nine Wegmans locations in New York will receive a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine to distribute to people age 75 and older, as well as Wegmans pharmacy employees. Participating Wegmans pharmacy locations include:

•Rochester: Eastway, Pittsford, Chili-Paul, Mt. Read, East Avenue

•Buffalo: Alberta Drive, Sheridan Drive

•Syracuse: Fairmount, Dewitt

In order to receive the COVID-19 vaccination at Wegmans, those 75 and older must schedule an appointment by visiting Wegmans.com/Pharmacy or calling 1-800-207-6099. Vaccinations will not be administered to anyone without an appointment or photo ID for proof of age eligibility.

Per New York state guidance, Wegmans is not able to vaccinate the other groups eligible in phase 1 at this time.

“We value this opportunity to help increase the vaccination rates in New York state and help control the COVID-19 pandemic as we all work toward the ultimate goal of achieving herd immunity throughout our communities,” said John Carlo, Wegmans SVP, pharmacy. “We understand there are many out there who are interested in receiving the vaccine as soon as possible, and we are working hard every day to be ready when vaccinations become available more broadly. Until then, we ask for everyone’s patience and understanding as we begin vaccinating and focus first on those in our community who are age 75 and older.”

UB Statement on South Campus Serving as Vaccination Site

The University at Buffalo is pleased to play a vital role in the fight against COVID-19 by hosting a vaccination site on the university’s South Campus.

SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced earlier Monday that five SUNY institutions, including UB, will serve as vaccination sites for their respective communities.

Registration will be required. Additional information about the South Campus vaccination site, including a specific building location and hours of operation, will be provided at a later date.

Members of the UB community have worked tirelessly to respond to COVID-19 in myriad ways, whether caring for patients as frontline physicians in Western New York hospitals, volunteering in hard-hit areas like New York City, or conducting research on the virus and its impacts.

“The UB community has made many significant contributions in the fight against COVID-19 through its research, teaching and volunteer efforts. UB is proud to continue making a positive impact by serving as a vaccination site,” UB President Satish K. Tripathi said. “This will help bring the vaccines closer to the community, speeding up a return to normalcy for Western New Yorkers.”

Michael E. Cain, M.D., UB’s vice president for health sciences and dean of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, is a member of the Western New York vaccine hub leadership team, which is headed by Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and also includes ECMC President and CEO Tom Quatroche, Ph.D., and Catholic Health President and CEO Mark Sullivan, MPA, FACHE.
