Pedestrian hit on Niagara Falls Boulevard succumbs to injuries

The 74-year-old man who was hit on Niagara Falls Boulevard Monday morning succumbed to his injuries. His identification is being withheld until family is notified.

The crash management team is continuing its investigation. Those who witnessed the crash, or who have any information, are asked to call the traffic division at 716-286-4563.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. Monday, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to the 7000 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard for a crash involving a pedestrian. A 2007 Ford Explorer was heading eastbound on Niagara Falls Boulevard when the 54-year-old driver noticed a pedestrian between the two lanes of traffic. The driver swerved, but could not avoid striking the pedestrian

The 74-year-old man appeared to be crossing southbound when he was struck. He was wearing dark clothing and was not in the crosswalk at the time of impact. He was taken to ECMC and listed in critical condition.
