Heather Bagshaw and Sara Harvey join marketing team

As domestic leisure travel continues to increase, Destination Niagara USA is being proactive about its approach to ensuring Niagara Falls USA and Niagara County remain in the forefront of travelers’ minds. To that end, Heather Bagshaw (vice president of marketing) and Sara Harvey (director of communications) are the latest hires for the destination marketing organization (DMO).

Bagshaw, an advertising and marketing professional with over 20 years of experience, previously served as the director of tourism for Greene County in Catskill. As vice president of marketing with Destination Niagara USA, Bagshaw will lead all marketing, communications and research functions in an effort to increase visibility and recognition of Niagara Falls USA and Niagara County and its assets as a leisure and convention destination.

"I am delighted to be working with John Percy and the Niagara Falls USA team,” she said. “I cannot wait to meet the tourism businesses in Niagara County who service the tourists of this mighty international destination!"

No stranger to Niagara County, Harvey previously served as assistant director of public relations for Niagara County Community College. In her new role as director of communications, Harvey will provide public relations support focusing on media relationships, news events, and constituent and stakeholder communications. She will also be responsible for strengthening the community relations efforts of Destination Niagara USA.

“As a resident of Niagara County, I get to experience the beauty of the area on a daily basis, and to be part of an organization that promotes Niagara Falls USA and the other gems in this county is genuinely exciting to me,” she said.

Percy, president and CEO of Destination Niagara USA, noted the growth in the organization mirrors the growth in the industry.

“On behalf of Destination Niagara USA, I am excited to welcome Heather and Sara to the organization in two key roles, as our organization grows and moves forward with branding efforts and expanded advertising campaigns,” he said. “Their expertise will be valuable as Niagara Falls USA continues to experience an increasing demand for leisure travel as well as meetings and conventions.”

In January, Destination Niagara USA took over operation of the Niagara Falls Convention Center, adding to the need for increased staffing.

The mission of Destination Niagara USA is to expand the economic prosperity of the Niagara Falls USA communities by generating individual and group visitation. For more information, visit niagarafallsusa.com.
