Free family event presented in partnership with Preservation Buffalo Niagara, Amherst Historic Preservation Commission

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village (BNHV) will host the second annual “Preservation Day!” This free event is presented in partnership with Preservation Buffalo Niagara and the Town of Amherst Historic Preservation Commission, and is sponsored by a Certified Local Government grant from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation.

Sue Palmer, co-chair of the Amherst Historic Preservation Commission, said, “At ‘Preservation Day!’ visitors will learn all about historic preservation by exploring BNHV’s historic village, enjoying family crafts and a scavenger hunt, and talking with representatives from Preservation Buffalo Niagara, the Amherst Historic Preservation Commission, and other experts from throughout the Buffalo Niagara Region.”

Preservation Buffalo Niagara Director of Preservation Services Christiana Limniatis said, “Bigger and better in our second year, ‘Preservation Day!’ is a fabulous opportunity to learn more about the history and development of our region, and to explore how Western New Yorkers can champion historic preservation as a means of creating a more culturally rich, affordable, and sustainable community.”

This year’s event will offer more activities, BNHV Executive Director Carrie Stiver said: “We’ll have an artisan market with local vendors, hot dogs and snacks sold by the Girl Scouts, Uncle G’s ice cream, and many more fun activities. We can’t wait to see everyone!”

This event is free to attend, however pre-reserved tickets are encouraged and can be reserved online at https://bnhv.givecloud.co/buy-tickets.

Pets, including but not limited to dogs, are not permitted. Service animals are permitted.
