City of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and the Police Athletic League of Buffalo (PAL) announced there is still space available for PAL’s summer youth golf and tennis camps, which begin in July.

“These PAL programs are great introductions to lifelong sports, and a great way for our kids to get outdoors, get active, and have a lot of fun,” Brown said.

The free PAL golf clinics will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. Mondays, July 18 through Aug. 15, at the Delaware Park Golf Course. Buffalo youngsters, ages 5 to 17, can register to attend one or all of the five sessions. Clinics will teach golf fundamentals in small group settings, with all golf equipment provided. The lessons will be taught by WNY Section Professional Golf Association (PGA) pros and OnCore Golf staff.

PAL’s “Love to Serve” summer tennis camps also have openings for beginner and intermediate tennis players, ages 8 to 18. The camp is held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at the City’s McMillian Courts, at the corner of Delaware Avenue and Nottingham Terrace. There will be two sessions each day: 8:30-11 a.m. and 10:15-11:45 a.m., July 11 through Aug. 19. Youngsters can sign up for one or more weeks of tennis camp.

There is a fee of $30 per week for the “Love to Serve” camp, and there are scholarship opportunities. Tennis racquets will be provided, and all participants will receive a camp T-shirt.

Preregistration is required for both the tennis and golf camps. To sign up or get more information on the camps, visit www.buffalopal.com.

PAL’s educational summer day camps are full and closed for registration.
