COVID-19 update for Jan. 19

√ Erie County confirmed 16,103 new cases for the week ending Jan. 15, representing a 16% decline from the previous week. The number of confirmed cases on Grand Island was 371.

√ Grand Island vaccination rate for town residents aged 20 and over is 87.4%, as of the week ending Jan. 15, according to data from the Erie County Department of Health.

√ The U.S. government has set up a website for people to order four free rapid antigen at-home tests. Everyone in the U.S. is eligible to order test kits via this website: https://www.covidtests.gov/. The test kits will ship in seven to 12 days.

√ Both KN95 and disposable masks are available for pickup at the Grand Island Golden Age Center at the Nike Base, 3278 Whitehaven Road. Hours for pickup are 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. weekdays. In addition, people can pick up masks from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.
