At approximately 11:25 p.m. Thursday, the Niagara Falls Police responded to 9103 St. John’s Parkway to investigate a complaint of a vehicle hitting several parked vehicles in the parking lot, and then driving through the wall of an apartment building.

The 64-year-old resident of the apartment was trapped under a 2015 Cadillac. She was freed by the Niagara Falls Fire Department, but succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The 41-year-old male operator of the Cadillac needed to be extricated from his vehicle. He failed field sobriety tests and was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, DWI, reckless driving and unsafe backing. He was to be arraigned today.

The crash management team is continuing the investigation. Additional charges are possible, pending the results of the court-ordered blood test and vehicle inspection.
