Critical fundraiser for hunger-relief organization will be held at Seneca One

After two years of virtual events, FeedMore WNY’s signature fundraiser, “Sweet Expectations,” will be held in person from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Seneca One.

Presented by James Desiderio Inc. and Wegmans Food Markets, “Sweet Expectations” will feature food and drink tastings, an auction and event raffles to help FeedMore WNY provide nutritious meals to food-insecure community members. Tickets can be purchased online at www.feedmorewny.org/sweet-expectations.

“Sweet Expectations” guests will enjoy catering and an oyster bar by Fresh Catch Poke Co., as well as food tastings from other local vendors, a three-hour wine and beer open bar and spirit sips to sample. Chef Stephen Forman of Thyme-N-Honey will provide live cooking demonstrations during the event, while guests mingle and participate in the virtual auction and raffles. In addition to the in-person event, “Sweet Expectations” has virtual options for those who want to participate in the virtual auction and raffles from the comfort of their own homes, including the “Sweets To Go” dessert box filled with locally made assorted treats and a bottle of bubbly.

Organizers said, “Hunger continues to be a pervasive issue in Western New York, especially as people continue to unbury themselves from the financial hardship caused by the pandemic and the rising cost of living. Proceeds from ‘Sweet Expectations’ will help FeedMore WNY serve tens of thousands of community members who rely on its food bank distribution network, home-delivered meal services and other critical feeding programs. Last year alone, FeedMore WNY provided 12.8 million meals to children, families and older adults throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.”

FeedMore WNY President and CEO Tara A. Ellis said, “The pandemic remains a part of all of our lives, and the rising cost of living only continues to tighten household budgets for families across our service area. FeedMore WNY works tirelessly to ensure that no one has to go without nutritious food, but we cannot do that without the support of the community. We encourage everyone to attend ‘Sweet Expectations’ – either in person or virtually – to enjoy an evening of food and fun while supporting our neighbors in need.”

FeedMore WNY offers dignity, hope and a brighter future by providing nutritious food, friendship and skills training to its Western New York neighbors in need. Through its food bank distribution center and partner hunger-relief agencies, as well as its home-delivered meal program, other targeted feeding programs and RISE workforce development training, FeedMore WNY alleviates hunger and assists community members of all ages throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.
