The Niagara Aquarium Foundation has elected Christine Lorenz as chairwoman of the board of trustees. Lorenz was elected to the board in 2016 and has served as the vice chair and the chair of both the nominations and partnership committees.

“The City of Niagara Falls offers congratulations to Christine Lorenz on becoming chairwoman of the board of trustees for the Niagara Aquarium Foundation,” City of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino said. “Her continued service to the board in this new capacity will further the advances made by the aquarium to be an exciting tourist and local attraction in our city. I look forward to working with her and the board of trustees to advance projects for the aquarium.”

The Niagara Aquarium Foundation board of trustees is responsible for fiduciary oversight of the Aquarium of Niagara, a not-for-profit organization committed to inspiring people to make a difference for aquatic life.

Lorenz succeeds Julie Kianof Fink who served as chairwoman from 2019-21. Fink will continue to serve on the board as past chairperson and chair of the board’s fundraising committee.

“I would like to thank our past chairperson, Julie Kianof Fink, for her dedication and efforts in making fundraising a priority for the board,” said Gary Siddall, president and CEO of the Aquarium of Niagara. “Christine has a gifted ability to forge new partnerships and is keenly aware of what it takes to attract, develop and retain key talent to support the organization. I look forward to working with Christine as the incoming leader of our board, and have immense confidence in the leadership she will provide to the aquarium and her fellow trustees.”

Lorenz is the president and CEO of Globalquest Staffing Solutions Inc., an employment agency that was founded nearly 30 years ago. The company is a certified minority/women-owned business enterprise specializing in information technology, marketing, finance and operations staffing.

An aquarium press release stated, “As a senior executive with an established track record of helping businesses increase their effectiveness, Lorenz has built Globalquest into the leading provider of staff augmentation solutions.

“Lorenz is passionate about building partnerships within the community. In addition to serving on the board of trustees for the Aquarium of Niagara, Lorenz is a member of the Roswell Park Alliance community board and a former member of the Roswell Park information technology advisory committee. She also served as the former chair of Buffalo Prep’s business council and is an active supporter of many local charities, including Roswell Park, Compass House and the Buffalo Sabres Alumni Association.

“Lorenz was first connected with the Aquarium of Niagara through her daughter, Lara, who interned in the aquarium’s marine mammal department in 2004 and 2009 before becoming a full-time marine mammal trainer in 2011.”

She said, “The Aquarium of Niagara has always been important to my family, and it is an honor to serve as the new board chair. “During my term, I look forward to advancing the aquarium’s goals while continuing to raise the visibility and awareness of this key cultural destination in our community.”

Lorenz resides in Lancaster with her husband, Charles.
