Coronavirus stats for May 19

Niagara County

Niagara County’s Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County: “We regretfully report the death of two Niagara County residents. We extend our deepest sympathies to their family and friends.”

The deceased include:

  • A 78-year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • A 95-year-old female with underlying health conditions

The rest of the update is as follows:

  • 52 new positive cases, for a total of 896 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 318 active cases (302 isolating at home, 16 in a hospital)
  • 526 recovered
  • 52 deaths

Erie County

As of 5 p.m. Sunday, Erie County had a total of 5,009 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 53 on Grand Island and 2,057 in the City of Buffalo. To date, 32,027 people have been tested (15.6% positive), with 449 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Also, 26,680 people have taken an antibody test (7.7% positive).
