On Thursday, Oct. 28, the Western New York Coalition for the Homeless, in partnership with the Buffalo City Mission and the City of Buffalo, will hold the annual “Project Homeless Connect Buffalo” at the Buffalo City Mission.

This event will open its doors at 9:30 a.m., welcoming regional and national homeless representatives to describe the impact homelessness has on the community, and the work that’s being done to assist those experiencing homelessness. At 10 a.m., individuals who are homeless or at-risk of experiencing homelessness will be able to access a one-stop opportunity to connecting with services and resources.

More than 30 agencies have committed to donating their time and services for the event, including 211 WNY, Buffalo City Mission, The Veteran One Stop, Best Self Behavioral Health, and Restoration Society. Participants will have access to housing specialists, employment services, public assistance, mental health services and medical services.

Based on previous events, 500 homeless and at-risk individuals are expected to receive services that day. In addition, participants will receive personal care bags containing essential items including toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, tissues, and tampons. Warm clothing including winter gloves, hats and socks will also be distributed.

Monetary donations are appreciated in any amount to support this and additional events the WNY Coalition for the Homeless coordinates throughout the year. Donations can be made by visiting phcbuffalo.com/sponsors/. Check donations can be mailed to: WNY Coalition for the Homeless, 1170 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14209.
